Opal Care Instructions

Ethiopian Opals are "hydrophane" stones, meaning they can easily absorb water, which may result in unwanted changes to your opal. Avoid bathing, hand washing, swimming etc. in your opals. Products like perfumes, soaps, and cleaning products can also discolor your opal. Do not use jewelry cleaning products or solutions. If your opal does darken or discolor due to moisture, let it dry naturally (do not attempt to rush the process with heat, as this may cause cracking) Remove opals before strenuous activity (gym, gardening, sports, etc.) to avoid hitting, cracking or exposing stones to perspiration. To clean your opal, simply wipe with a clean dry cloth before storing.
